emergent church

If the emergent church doesn’t find ways to build lasting and meaningful relationships with it’s previous lover fundamentalism then all it has achieved is the creation of yet another fracture within the christian faith. The quest for oneness remains incomplete. We can not become just another “I’m more right than you” kind of group, that would be tragic and counter-productive for everyone and most destructive to the cause of the gospel. If we only associate with those who share our views and ask the same questions then we are dead in the water, we are salt without flavor and we are one step from becoming just a new version of fundamentalism. I’m not suggesting that we humbly drop some of our contentious views for the sake of some cosmic brotherhood, what I am suggesting is that genuine love should always drive us into the arms of another, that if we truly have encountered the resurrected Christ then we should be dead to any notion of superiority and always open to correction for the cause of oneness. We need to grow up and stop creating tension where it clearly isn’t necessary, if Christ prayed that we would be one as He and the Father are one, then surely the call to oneness is paramount in the cause of the gospel. We all crave meaning and connection, most of us do what we can to find it, others of us have given up hope of finding it. I don’t want my journey so far to be for nothing just because I found a place of connection and a group of people asking similar questions. True love should always stop our arms from folding and our hearts from closing to shut out the other.

  1. Nice post. I study one thing more difficult on different blogs everyday. It’ll always be stimulating to learn content material from different writers and follow a bit one thing from their store. I’d want to make use of some with the content on my blog whether or not you don’t mind. Natually I’ll provide you with a hyperlink on your net blog. Thanks for sharing.
